From Thesis to Throne: How History Became My Muse
If you told my twenty-something self—nose buried in Reformation research—that one day I’d be writing about scandalous monarchs and swoon-worthy royals, I’d have laughed (politely, of course).
But studying the Tudors taught me something invaluable: history is full of drama that doesn’t need embellishing. The court politics, whispered betrayals, and impossible choices were already deliciously human. All I had to do was add a dash of romance and a splash of imagination.
When I started The Realm, I wanted readers to feel the tension of duty vs. desire—the weight of the crown alongside the pull of the heart. That’s the thrill of writing historical romance: every story balances between power and passion.
So yes, technically my master’s degree didn’t go to waste—it just found a more scandalous calling. 😉
